ABOUT SVFD
Regarding our Department and Company
The Springville Volunteer Fire Department exists as an entity of the Village of Springville and responds to all EMS and fire related emergencies within our district. We have, on average, 40 active volunteers that manage over 700 emergency events a year, from two stations: 405 W. Main, and 65 Franklin St.
Our volunteers are professionally trained and certified by NYS instructors in various areas of expertise within the firefighter and EMS arena. We have weekly training drills to reinforce instruction, as well as refine our techniques.
Our department consists of firefighters and emergency medical technicians, with subdivisions of interior firefighters, exterior firefighters, drivers, pump operators, fire police and EMT’s.
We respond with, manage and maintain 3 Engines (1,2 & 4), 1 Heavy Rescue (7), 1 Aerial (6), 1 Ambulance (8), 1 Lite Rescue truck (7-1) and 1 Brush Fire Truck (7-2).
The Springville Volunteer Fire Company is an integral entity to which each of the members holds an equal share and was created to maintain the business aspects of running our volunteer fire department. SVFC is run by an Executive Board, with assistance from the body of the fire co.
The SVFC holds fundraising events such as our chicken barbeque, car show and sportsman’s raffle, to offset the costs of purchasing the vast array of equipment and supplies needed, that help us to serve the community. The SVFC is also responsible for renting out our banquet hall, located at our 405 W. Main street location and our Fireman’s Park, at 71 Nason blvd. The SVFC is also responsible to our volunteers, maintaining records, insurances, pensions and more.
There is no maximum age to join us at SVFD and if you are physically able to meet the medical requirements for the role you are applying for, your application will be considered. Keep in mind that while you may not meet the medical/physical criteria to be an interior firefighter, you may meet the criteria to serve as an exterior firefighter, a driver, pump operator, fire police member, EMS provider or fill other important support roles.
Download an application today and either give it to a known member of SVFD or drop it off in person, any Monday night at 7PM, during the first minutes of our Monday training sessions.
